Cyberfusca: Cybertruck with Beetle chassis

The automotive world is a stage for great innovations and projects that attract attention for their creativity. Among these projects, the Cyberbeetle, an impressive creation by Lucas Carvalho, a miner from the small town of Santana da Vargem, in Minas Gerais. Inspired by the iconic Tesla Cybertruck, Lucas decided to create his own version of the futuristic car, using a Beetle chassis as a base. The result is a vehicle that mixes the retro charm of the classic Volkswagen with the bold, modern lines of Elon Musk's electric pickup truck.

The Inspiration Behind the Cyberfusca

A Cybertruck, launched by Tesla, is known for its futuristic and polarizing design. Some love it; others criticize it. Lucas belongs to the first group. “This [Cybertruck] caught my attention. It’s a car that had escaped from everything we’re used to. It’s very different, very futuristic. That’s when I decided that I would make this car as my next project,” explained the creator of the Cyberbeetle.

Lucas is no stranger to bold projects. Before this initiative, he had already worked on other creative constructions, such as a cardboard bicycle and miniature buses and trucks. In addition, he participated in the design of a Handmade Lamborghini alongside fellow influencer Henrique Carvalho. With accumulated experience and the desire to innovate, Lucas decided to embark on yet another automotive adventure.

Choosing the Beetle

The first step was to acquire the basis of the project: a beetle red, found in good mechanical condition, but with a worn body. The previous owner intended to sell it as scrap, but Lucas saw potential in the car and paid R$ 1.000 for him. The 1,500 engine was in such good condition that it only needed minor maintenance, such as changing the spark plugs and cables.

Over the course of eight months, Lucas invested around R$ 15,000 in the project, transforming the Beetle into something completely new. Although he considered the possibility of installing an electric motor or a famous AP engine, he chose to keep the original Beetle engine, since the alternatives were not viable within his budget and the project specifications.

Body Construction

The most challenging part of the project was building the body. Lucas used a computer program to design and plan every detail. The structure was made in metalon, while the plates used were of steel 18, carefully shaped and welded to reproduce the angular lines of the Cybertruck. “I wanted it to have all the edges and angles of the original model,” Lucas revealed.

Although the body was entirely new, many components of the Beetle were reused, such as the braking system, the suspension and the front end, which includes the fuel tank and oil reservoir. Some improvements were also made, such as replacing the steering box, which had excessive play.

The Finishing Touch: Details and Customizations

With the bodywork completed, Lucas added several customizations to give the Cyberbeetle a touch of exclusivity. He installed a system so that the hood would open automatically at the press of a button, adapted a bar Sequential LEDs as headlights, it used fog lights from the Honda Civic and added LED taillights to the rear. In the cargo bed, a secret compartment was designed to allow access to the rear engine.

Inside, the car also underwent a complete makeover. The dashboard was rebuilt, receiving a 9-inch multimedia display. The seats and steering wheel were also replaced with more modern models, while the doors gained electric locks. To top it off, the vehicle received a new paint job. metallic silver, directly inspired by Original Cybertruck.

Legalization and Results

With the project complete, the next challenge was to ensure that the Cyberbeetle could run legally. Lucas managed to regularize the vehicle with the appropriate authorities and received the necessary documentation on the 13th. Now, he not only drives his creation on the streets, but also shares his story and inspiration with thousands of followers on his YouTube channel, Uncle Luquinha.

Lucas hopes his creation will reach Elon Musk himself and that his story will show how creativity and perseverance can turn dreams into reality.
